Rubin Observatory / SLAC

The Vera C. Rubin Observatory (based at SLAC in Menlo Park, CA) is hiring an SRE/Software Engineer to own the reliability of the Prompt Processing Framework — a Kubernetes-based, event-driven system (KEDA, Redis Streams, Kafka, Postgres) that scales near-real-time processing of telescope data and distributes alerts. Responsibilities include writing software to improve resilience, operating and evolving core infrastructure services, and building monitoring, alerting, and on-call practices to keep the system robust during nightly observing operations.
