We are an environmental nonprofit building open data infrastructure and open source tools to help communities around the world fight air pollution, responsible for 1 out of 8 deaths worldwide. The OpenAQ Platform has 3.6 billion realtime and historical air quality measurements from 120 countries and gets ~35 million API requests per month. Why is this the coolest job ever? You would be the second engineer (along with me, the Platform Lead) so you would have an enormous impact. You get to work with interesting people from all over the world including NASA scientists, government officials from Ghana, data journalists from India, citizen activists from Mongolia, engineers in Berlin (that was just this week). By building data infrastructure that's open source, you get to be a force multiplier for really important, impactful work often at the cutting-edge of what's possible.
